Director of Photography / Shooter & Editor – TVC, Brand & Social

Hey, we’re Just Media Design or JMD as our friends call us. A creative social agency based in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, producing high end branded video content for some of Australia’s biggest brands.

Our work has evolved beyond the social feeds - We are delivering more TVC quality production that is socially minded from the ground up. Big campaigns, high production value, and smart execution that scales across platforms.

We’re looking for an experienced DOP / Shooter & Editor to help lead that next phase and be part of a team led by our Head of Production, Jeremy Ward.

This role is for a shooter first. Someone who genuinely loves shooting amazing pictures, understands cameras, audio, and lighting at a technical level, and can confidently lead a set. You will be just as comfortable running a fast, lean location shoot as you are stepping into larger productions with clients, crew, and high expectations.

What You’ll Be Doing
Shooting high end branded content, campaign work, and TVC scale/quality productions
Shooting primarily on Blackmagic systems in 6K RAW, often in 3:2 to allow clean 9:16 and 16:9 delivery from a single take
Making smart in-camera decisions that support social first and multi format delivery
Leading crews on set, including directing freelance gaffers and lighting technicians when required
Working directly with clients on shoot days and navigating feedback, changes, and challenges in real time
Leading and collaborating with internal JMD team members including producers, directors, camera assistants, and runners
Setting up and shaping light using professional lighting and grip equipment including blacks, scrims, bounce boards, and modifiers
Capturing clean, intentional audio and applying strong sound design in post
Editing, colour grading, and delivering content to a high commercial standard
Working fast in post production while maintaining quality and consistency
Switching comfortably between larger scale productions and small, run and gun shoots
Solving problems on the fly with calm, practical decision making and a positive attitude

What We’re Looking For
A highly capable shooter or DOP with strong technical foundations
Confidence shooting 6K RAW and managing high resolution workflows
Strong understanding of framing for multiple outputs from a single capture
Proven experience leading crews and directing lighting on set
Comfortable being the senior technical lead on both small and large productions
Proficient colour grading skills and a strong technical eye
A keen ear for sound design and audio detail
Fast, confident editing ability with a focus on turnaround speed
Proficient knowledge across the full Adobe Creative Suite
Strong working knowledge of DaVinci Resolve
After Effects or basic animation skills are a bonus
Confident working directly with clients and managing expectations on set
A team first leader who leads by example
Comfortable working under pressure and tight timelines
Full Australian driver’s licence and access to a reliable car
Comfortable using your vehicle as a crew car for transporting gear to and from locations

Our Production Setup
You will be supported with a strong in house production kit, including:
Blackmagic 6k Pyxis cameras
Blackmagic 6k Pocket Cinema Cameras
Canon R5C
DZO Vespid cine primes plus a wide range of additional lenses in our armoury
Professional lighting kits used daily for in house shoots
Grip equipment including blacks, scrims, bounce boards, and modifiers
We shoot regularly with our internal team and equipment. Approximately once a month we scale up productions with external crew such as gaffers and lighting technicians, while the majority of shoots are handled by our in house team and resources.

Why JMD?
Full time, in office role based in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane
A growing agency with strong momentum heading into 2026
Access to excellent in house equipment and the chance to shoot often
A mix of high end campaign work and fast turn social content
Real responsibility, creative ownership, and room to grow as the agency scales
A supportive, high performing team that takes pride in the work we put out

This is a genuine opportunity for the right person. We only want to hear from you if this sounds like you and where you want to take your career next.
