Character Layout Artist
SYDNEY and Greater NSW
Studio Moshi’s latest production is a highly stylised and dynamic 2D animated series where you can bring your best and push the limits of your creativity. Join a bold, fast-paced series packed with chaos, comedy and larger-than-life storytelling for a global audience.
We are on the search for Character Layout Artists to help bring explosive characters, high-energy action and wildly unpredictable adventures to life with a crew pushing creative boundaries every day. Character Layout Artists will translate storyboards into detailed character layouts defining the posing and key actions of sequences, establishing the foundation for animation by ensuring characters are positioned correctly within the scene while maintaining consistency in proportions, perspective, and acting.

*Must be Australian citizen or permanent resident*
Start date: Mid-June 2026
Work Location: Sydney and Greater NSW Preferred, Remote AUS Considered
Reports to: Layout Supervisor, Animation Director, Supervising Director
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES
• Strong drawing and posing abilities with a solid understanding of anatomy and perspective.
• Knowledge of animation principles and composition techniques.
• Ability to interpret and enhance storyboard panels.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high artistic standards.
• Proficiency in Toon Boom Harmony and Adobe Photoshop a positive
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong organizational skills to prioritize work to meet goals or deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality over all matters and proprietary information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create detailed character layouts based on storyboards, ensuring proper composition and staging.
• Define key poses, expressions, and proportions for characters while maintaining consistency with the project’s style.
• Work collaboratively with animators and directors to establish clear visual storytelling.
• Ensure that characters interact naturally with backgrounds and props.
• Maintain quality control over character proportions, perspective, and continuity throughout sequences.
• Address feedback from supervisors and make necessary revisions.
• Work within established production timelines and deadlines.
