About the opportunity
We are looking for a full-time Editor. This is a fixed term contract as you will be back filling for an employee who has been appointed into another role. This position involves commissioning, writing editorial and content marketing for our Food TV series on SBS and Channel 33, as well as our wider SBS Network priorities. You will also be pitching and be involved in the producing of video content packages for the site and our social profiles alongside our Video Editor. You will be assisting in the growth of our SBS Food social profiles, curating the SBS Food home and recipe pages and producing our weekly e-newsletter.
About you
- You’re a fan of SBS Food content and consume it on all platforms.
- You thrive in a fast-paced digital environment and you can nail daily deadlines.
- This is not a senior role however we are looking for someone with a minimum of 3 years’ journalism experience in a similar role (commissioning, editing, writing and producing digital content). You love clickable - not click-baity – clever headlines; you’ll pause on a headline or sell and rewrite it. You love snappy copy and are confident in wrangling words, structural editing and putting commas and umlauts in place. You can explain what SEO is and why it’s important. You know your way around real-time analytics and use this to inform your editorial decisions.
- You are responsible for the digital content for TV Commissioned priorities; tasks include liaising with key stakeholders, talent and marketing and ensuring all deliverables and assets are managed accordingly.
- Social media is your frenemy - you love it; you hate it; it’s a source of inspiration and leads for some of your best stories. You are able to publish content across our Food properties (that includes both website and social media channels).
- Experience and skills in food video production are advantageous.
