News and Weather Assistant

Exciting role for a new graduate to provide support to WIN's busy Wollongong news team. 

This is a Permanent Part-Time role (20 hours per week) based in Wollongong. 


The WIN Network is the world’s largest privately owned regional television network and Australia’s largest commercial network reaching more than 8 million viewers across six states of Australia and the nation’s capital. WIN is a diverse media and entertainment group with television as the core business, and business interests in radio, film and television production, telecommunications and specialist engineering.

The Role
Reporting to the State News Director, the main responsibility of the News Assistant is to provide support to the Wollongong newsroom. Duties include by are not limited to providing assistance to the Weather Presenter in the preparation of the weather forecasts, data entry of all information, assistance with some script writing as requested, ensuring all Presenters have hard copies of their scripts prior to presenting and the operation of the script view auto-cue system.

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Recently graduated or in final year of a relevant Media and Communications degree.
  • Demonstrated superior communication and relationship building skills - establish networks & maintain contacts, as well as tenacity and well developed abilities to prioritise.
  • The ability to work under pressure and achieve success in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
  • Keen eye for detail.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
