DMS Operator

Amazing opportunity for Digital Media Services Operator.

Responsibilities: daily digital management services - ingest, QC, encoding, basic editing - and providing efficient support and communication to the team.


This role is located in Braeside, Victoria.

The Role
The Digital Media Operator is required to undertake numerous processes on a day to day basis as per request from Digital Media Services Supervisor.
 
The primary responsibilities of the position are:
  • Conformance editing to style guides on various editing tools including Premiere Pro or similar
  • Quality control of media files to various levels of complexity
  • Data entry utilising various internal systems
  • Transcoding and packaging of content for delivery
  • Acquisition and delivery of media files
  • Gain a high level of understanding of metadata requirements
  • Participate in performance improvement programs to increase quality, efficiency and performance
  • Ensure all company policies including quality, security, safety and environmental programs are adhered to
  • Multi skill through all areas of the department through regular cross training
  • Adaptability
  • Ability to time manage and work on multiple tasks simultaneously with high level of accuracy
  • Good organisational and admin processes.
Digital Management Services:
  • Ingest, QC of content to varying requirements
  • Encode & decode content to/from data masters both HD & SD.
  • Transcoding of content to multiple codecís for wide variety of platforms.
  • Basic non-linear editing & authoring
  • Manage the distribution process from acquisition through packaging and delivery
  • Work to tight deadlines
  • Proactively maintain accuracy for all aspects of processes
  • Meet SLA requirements for each process
  • Adhere to KPIís and improve effectiveness
  • Work efficiently in a team environment exercising discretion and judgment of work to a high level
  • Manage multiple processes simultaneously through the DMS operations providing operational guidance to team members where appropriate.
Adobe Premiere Pro:
  • Ability to perform editing tasks for video and sound tracks utilizing Premiere Pro editing system or similar
  • Have a full understanding of broadcast standards and colour requirements
  • Ability to edit content in accordance to style guides
  • Ability to technically measure video and audio parameters to meet standards.
Communication: 
  • Provide feedback and suggestions that will help improve the quality control and performance of the digital media department
  • Communicate in a timely manner with department management on any issues they need to address or be made aware
  • Work closely with management and staff to assess current processes
  • Develop improvement plans for business processes
  • Effectively communicate with management and peers on job specific matters.
Additional Responsibilities:
Duties as directed by Digital Management Services Manager and supervisors.

The Candidate

Academic / Technical Qualifications:
  • High School Certificate.
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Experience in Broadcasting Industry and file-based editing equipment
  • Proven experience in production and/or distribution facility
  • IT Multimedia knowledge essential (Codecís/Workflows/HD & SD formats)
  • QC experience
  • Premiere Pro & QC experience essential.
Industry Experience:
  • Data Wrangling experience beneficial
  • Captioning or subtitling experience beneficial
  • Experience in multi-media production
  • Content Ingest & Transcoding
  • Skilled in all formats and methods of post-production editing.
Communication Skills:
  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to prepare reports on specific tasks/assignments.
Computer Skills:
  • Standard office packages
  • Essential: Mac intermediate to advanced.
Abilities:
  • Attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Able to work without supervision
  • Deadline driven.
