This is an exciting opportunity to join global media company Discovery as a Publicist working on our Lifestyle portfolio across Australia and New Zealand


Discovery Inc is a global leader in real life entertainment, delivering brands including Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, TLC, Science Channel and Eurosport to more than 220 countries and territories. 

Over the last 3 years, the international division has doubled in size. Already a leader in the factual and lifestyle genres, Discovery has expanded its core business globally into new genres: sports, entertainment and kids.



We are now looking for an experienced Publicist to join our team, driving in-house publicity for the Lifestyle Product portfolio across Australia and New Zealand.

Based in the Discovery ANZ office in Sydney and reporting to the Vice President, Lifestyle Products, the successful candidate will be passionate about content and have at least 3 years of publicity experience, ideally in a broadcast or media company. 

You must have excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder management, with an ability to prioritise a large and diverse workload.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Assist with development and execution of PR plans to generate publicity for Discovery Channels, products and programs
  • Draft, create and distribute monthly communications materials including press releases, highlights and program kits         
  • Identify opportunities and generate ideas for media coverage and pitch to appropriate media outlets
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key media and stakeholders  
  • Compile and assist in facilitating talent interview requests
  • Assist with managing local and international talent when in market
  • Manage, source and distribute images and other assets for priority programs  
  • Manage press and internal screener and image requests
  • Assist with press-related activities for events       
  • Collate monthly and daily media reports and assist with corporate and internal communications   
  • Support VP, Lifestyle Products with ad hoc publicity & communications duties.

Experience skills & qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years in a publicity role (ideally for a broadcast and/or media company, or for a global brand)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Preferred:  degree qualification in PR, Communications or Marketing  
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise large workload
  • Demonstrate initiative and work well within a team environment 
  • Attention to detail and an ability to think laterally
  • Driven individuals with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
