Video Producer - Sport

We are looking for outstanding Sports Video Producers to join our 24-hour news operation with a team of journalists reporting on all the major sports stories of the day, with particular focus on rugby league.

Role Summary

This role will suit an entry level news producer or video editor with some industry experience, looking to take on an exciting digital video position with Wide World of Sports on a full-time basis. 

The role involves managing and delivering the video presence on Wide World of Sports – including cutting highlights and amazing moments throughout the sports world with a focus on NRL. 

You will also be uploading breaking news videos, producing live streaming events and editing photos for our articles, video pages and homepage. 

The right candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and prove to be a cool operator, who makes an impact on our visual design as we launch a refreshed NRL look and video presence. 

They will also have experience producing mobile-first social video content, utilising text, graphics and video, and be up to date with the latest in video storytelling. 

As with any role in journalism, diligence and attention to detail are crucial – the right candidate should be able to write, edit and produce independently.
This is a role that would suit someone ready to forge a future in a growing digital news business. The role is based in Sydney and involves weekend work.
Key Responsibilities
  • Publishing video clips from Nine's coverage of NRL, Cricket and Netball, as well as other sports as required
  • Looking out for the best of the rugby league season
  • Monitoring social media and other video sources to pitch content ideas that will rate well on our network
  • Using multiple systems to edit and upload video content as well as manage live streaming
  • Being extremely organised to effectively manage a competing list of priorities
  • Finding new ways to tell stories through video on our website and social platforms
  • Using video analytics to track and improve performance. 
Skills and Experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills and communication skills
  • Passion for TV and online video
  • Experience in video editing with Premiere Pro or Final Cut
  • Understanding video encoding processes
  • Experience with Photoshop
  • Experience working on a major news website is preferred
  • Bachelor Degree in media, arts or similar is desirable
  • Flexibility as shift work is required inclusive of weekends and night shifts.
