Rural Reporter, Renmark

ABC Regional & Local team in Renmark is seeking a Reporter to create rural and primary industry content for multiple platforms that aligns with ABC strategy and Regional & Localís objectives.

The ABC Regional & Local team is about Australian communities and conversations.  We make distinctive stories and events that connect communities and shape lives.  We are about real people, real places and real life.  We have eight capital city radio stations and a network of 44 regional bureaux across Australia.  Our Sport and Live Events team focuses on regional and local content for all our platforms, including TV, Radio and online.

About the Role
ABC Regional & Local team in Renmark is seeking a Reporter to create rural and primary industry content for multiple platforms that aligns with ABC strategy and Regional & Localís objectives. 

Reporting to the Renmark Chief of Staff, in this key role you will have:
  • Sound editorial skills including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise sound judgement.
  • A demonstrated creative approach to content construction and delivery, and proficient experience in live presentation and broadcast.
  • Strong understanding of rural and regional issues that affect and interest the local audience.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with people from a range of diverse backgrounds.
About You
With a demonstrated creative approach to content construction and delivery, proficient experience in live presentation and broadcast, you will bring to this role:
  • Sound editorial skills including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise sound judgement.
  • Strong understanding of rural and regional issues that affect and interest the local audience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with people from a range of diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated understanding and passion to source and create authentic content which represents the broad diversity of the Australian community; and
  • Tertiary qualifications in Agriculture or Journalism and/or demonstrated equivalent experience in primary industries.
