Broadcast Technician

Champion Data is a privately owned Australian company that delivers high quality sports research, content, technology and television solutions to our many clients.

We are currently seeking an experienced Technician to join our high profile Broadcast Team.


We work across all major Australian sports including AFL, NRL, Rugby Union, Football, Netball and Golf. 

Employing approximately 60 permanent and 220 casual staff, the company has experienced strong growth over a sustained period and has quickly moved from a small company to a medium-sized business. 


The Broadcast Technician's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the technical support of broadcasts as well as the design and architecture of broadcast solutions. 

Key aspects of role are below: 

  • Operate as Viz technical support for television broadcasts as required, inclusive of on call
  • Design and architect broadcast solutions for clients as required
  • Analyse current and future solutions, make and implement recommendations on redundancy
  • Advise of improvements or enhancements that can be made to broadcast solutions to improve the performance of product
  • Assist in maintenance, management of broadcast equipment as required, including in season maintenance and out of season audit and re-builds
  • Active planning around support systems, design and operations
  • Resource management, in conjunction with other technicians, ensure overall high-quality delivery of broadcast requirements
  • Effective verbal and written communication to internal and external clients.
  • Gain knowledge of Champion Data applications, interfaces and integration
  • Be an active member of the Broadcast team, working to schedules, production planning, coordination and troubleshooting
  • Provide training and coaching where required.


The role requires strong Vizrt technical skills and experience in Broadcast and Production. 

You must be a team player and have the ability to communicate with other groups within the department in order to carry out projects effectively.

Specific skills and experience required:

  • Strong Vizrt knowledge
  • Prior broadcast and production experience is essential
  • Degree qualification in Computer Science, Software Development, Engineering or Networking would be an advantage
  • Good oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Great organisational and project management skills are also essential.

Salary will be competitive, and dependent on experience.
