Supervising Producer
The Sunday Project


The Sunday Project is looking for a Supervising Producer available to start this full time role in January 2018.


ROLE SUMMARY


You will be responsible for ensuring The Sunday Project daily story and news selection is on point with The Project ethos, whilst ensuring our competitive edge is upheld at all times.


Our ideal candidate will have strong proven experience working in a senior editorial position on a nationally broadcast news and current affairs show.

 

Demonstrable experience managing a team in broadcast television is essential, as are industry references who can verify your innate decision making qualities, and ability to lead in a newsroom.

 

You will be comfortable in a Control Room, able to oversee a live broadcast environment and effective under pressure.

 

This full time position requires working weekends, and involves weekly travel.


The editorial office is based in Melbourne, and this position will require a presence in Sydney every Sunday.


Flexible travel arrangements are available.

 
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Determining the daily stories to be produced, and consulting with the Executive Producer and Network Executive on their suitability.
  • Chairing the daily content and production meetings.
  • Sub editing scripts to ensure the correct editorial messaging and tone is maintained.
  • Prioritising and scheduling content development in line with topical imperatives.
  • Run rehearsal & call the program live to air.
  • Establish a rapport with the presenters and key stake holders to maintain the programís production and editorial values.
  • Advise the classification and legal advisers of the show of any relevant issues arising and to implement their advice where given.
  • Generate original ideas and contribute to the editorial process including editorial comment on packaged content.
  • Comply with industry standard protocols and adhere to Network Ten workflows and procedures.

You are expected to possess and demonstrate the following skills:

  • Consistency and acknowledgement of production values to constructively supervise segment production, field story production, provide editorial and procedural feedback, and comment when required.

  • A keen interest and awareness of the Productionís viewership, their habits and expectations. 
  • An unbiased viewpoint with the ability to see beyond personal preference and guarantee objective decision-making. 
  • A clear and positive communication style that demonstrates an understanding of the various pressures on others in the team. 
  • Ability to function professionally in a high-pressure environment with daily deadlines. 
  • Awareness of classification and legal standards so that you have the ability to keep legal advisers of the show across any relevant issues, and implement their advice where given.
