Artists in Motion (AIM) is a Creative Projects Company. We are built and dependent upon our unique team of blended talent, the core foundation to each of our creative projects. Our team covers the full project spectrum from conception to completion. We work across cities, countries, and cultures within the world of live events, global ceremonies, arena spectaculars, shows and exhibitions. We bring these stories to life through creative and technical innovation. Recent projects include King Kong on Broadway, 1001 Nights The last Chapter - Sharjah, Symphony of Lights Hong Kong, Lighting the Sails - Sydney Opera House.


The Role

We are looking for a passionate, experienced Art Director able to apply their skills across a broad range of creative projects. Predominantly Art Direction & Design for motion, so while animation is not a requirement, a sound knowledge and understanding of it is.


Working closely with the Creative Director and actively supporting with the wider Creative and Production Team, you will demonstrate your experience taking a raw idea, crafting it, and then bringing it to life, ensuring creative is developed within the scope of the brief. You will show exceptional creative concepts, and attention to detail that delivers end-to-end value right through to production.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Concept development and direction of creative projects
  • Delivering visualisations, concept frames, style frames, mood boards, reference material, illustrations, sketches and storyboards as required
  • Creation of internal presentations, pitch presentations, and other design needs as they arise
  • Alongside the Creative Director, pitching ideas and seeing them through to the signing off stage with clients
  • Integrating technical and visual solutions into a design concept as well as understanding the scope and the space within which you are working
  • Creating innovative and inspiring designs and design solutions for use by the Creative and Production Team
  • Reviewing work-in-progress with the Creative Director for advice and adjustment
  • Directing and briefing other designers, motion designers, animators, compositors, illustrators, & assigning tasks to more junior members of the team when required
  • Liaising with producers and department leads to ensure smooth delivery of work
  • Providing clear and objective critiques of creative work
  • Adhering to project timelines, budgets, and briefings set.

  • Desire to always raise standards and present new ideas
  • Thrive in a high pressure, fast-paced environment, managing time effectively
  • Solid understanding of designing for motion
  • Ability to work on a variety of work and design disciplines
  • Advanced understanding of design principles including visual hierarchy, composition, colour and pace
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Solid team skills and willingness to step in where needed
  • Ability to run from briefing, leading brilliant concepts, to completion in production
  • Flexible, with the ability to work to timelines across multiple projects 
  • Ability to confidently articulate the vision to the Creative Director and Creative Team
  • A strong working knowledge of design software (advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite) and creative technology
  • Ability to use a 3D package, ideally C4D an advantage.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience designing
  • Diploma of Design or equivalent.
Requirements:
  • Based in Australia, with full working rights
  • Can work full time for a minimum of 12 months.
