Music Licensing Manager

A chance to use your knowledge of TV production and music rights in an exciting role with a global leader in music licensing.

Your focus will primarily be the ANZ market, with an occasional trip to Asia.

Our client is a global leader in licensing and supplying authentic music to content creators across TV, film and advertising. They collaborate with over 1000 composers, artists and producers and built and own a world-class catalogue of more than 170,000 tracks of original music spanning every conceivable style, mood and instrumentation. 

The company continues to expand its reach in terms of engagement, customers and territories and now has a full-time opportunity for a Music Licensing Account Manager to be based in Sydney. 

Role summary:

With global offices in London, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Munich and Paris, you will be part of a truly international team.

Working with the current APAC team your focus will primarily be the ANZ market, with the occasional trip to Asia. With a strong existing customer base, you will service and drive revenue growth from the APAC film & TV sectors, through the sale of music synchronisation licenses and encouraging increased usage of the catalogue to generate performance royalties.
To be successful in this role you will have the perfect mix of entrepreneurial spirit, superb client service and successful business prowess, combined with your knowledge of TV production and music licensing. 

You will be a natural networker to build relationships with key production contacts as well as think creatively to discuss creative concepts and solutions.
Your main accountabilities will be:

  • To work with the APAC management team to build and execute growth strategies for the film and TV sectors
  • Deliver outstanding customer service, by managing the needs, relationships and expectations of existing clients, to ensure a high level of retention and customer satisfaction
  • Manage lead generation, prospecting and converting new business to ensure sales targets are met
  • Use your understanding of music licensing to provide recommendations to clients on the level of clearance they require for their productions, including mechanical and performance rights and license fees
  • Recognise and explore commercial opportunities where the company’s music can be used across royalty-generating productions
  • Utilise data to develop key customer and market insights and inform actions and strategy
  • Represent the company at external client meetings, events and functions both domestically and internationally, and collaborate with the marketing team to deliver engaging client events.
What you need to succeed:
  • 5+ years in a sales/account management role and/or business development background in a similar area
  • Ability to think creatively
  • Decision-making, problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Strong understanding of the production / broadcast industry with established industry contacts
  • Knowledge of music and music licensing.
